Overview

What is PRX?

PRX is a patented professional biorevitalization formula developed in Italy that delivers trichloroacetic acid (TCA) into the skin in a way that produces collagen and elastin stimulation without causing surface damage. Traditional TCA peels damage the epidermis to force regeneration. PRX bypasses that damage — reaching the dermis directly while hydrogen peroxide neutralizes the surface reaction, protecting the outer skin layer entirely.

The result is a treatment that achieves what usually requires either a peel with days of downtime or a series of needle-based injections — but with neither. Immediate luminosity from the first session, with structural collagen improvements that build progressively over the weeks following treatment.

At Desert Sands, PRX is one of our most versatile skin renewal tools — used standalone as a maintenance treatment, paired with AquaGold for deeper immediate results, or layered into a comprehensive skincare program for lasting skin quality improvements.

  • Patented Italian biorevitalization formula — not a standard chemical peel

What It Does

What PRX addresses.

PRX works at the dermal level, producing a broad range of improvements to skin quality, tone, and structure — without touching the surface.

01

Collagen & Elastin

PRX triggers a wound-healing response in the dermis without actually wounding the surface — stimulating fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin that firms and tightens the skin progressively over weeks following treatment.

02

Skin Laxity

The collagen and elastin stimulation produced by PRX visibly tightens loose or crepey skin — on the face, neck, décolletage, and hands — with improvements building across a series of treatments.

03

Uneven Tone & Radiance

Kojic acid in the PRX formula inhibits melanin production, progressively brightening dull, uneven, or hyperpigmented skin while the biorevitalization process restores overall luminosity and clarity.

04

Fine Lines & Texture

As new collagen fills the dermis and skin hydration improves, fine surface lines soften and skin texture becomes measurably smoother and more refined — results that deepen with each session in a series.

05

Stretch Marks & Scars

The collagen-stimulating mechanism of PRX makes it effective for improving the appearance of stretch marks and superficial scarring — particularly useful on the abdomen, thighs, and décolletage.

06

Immediate Glow

Unlike treatments whose results take weeks to appear, PRX produces visible luminosity and skin quality improvement immediately after the first session — making it a popular pre-event treatment as well as a maintenance staple.

How It Works

Dermal stimulation without surface damage.

Traditional chemical peels use acid to damage the outer epidermis — forcing the skin to regenerate and producing peeling, redness, and several days of downtime in the process. PRX works differently. Its patented formula combines trichloroacetic acid with hydrogen peroxide in a ratio that allows TCA to penetrate directly to the dermis, where it stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin.

The hydrogen peroxide in the formula creates an oxidative neutralization reaction at the epidermal level — protecting the surface layer from the acid's effects while allowing the deeper stimulation to occur. The skin's outer layer remains intact, which is why there is no peeling, no significant redness, and no recovery period.

Kojic acid — the third component — simultaneously inhibits tyrosinase activity in melanocytes, reducing melanin production and progressively brightening pigmentation and uneven tone over a series of treatments.

The PRX formula
Trichloroacetic Acid

Penetrates to the dermis and triggers fibroblast activity — stimulating collagen and elastin production without surface ablation.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Neutralizes the acid reaction at the epidermis, protecting the surface and eliminating peeling and downtime.

Kojic Acid

Inhibits melanin production, brightening pigmentation and uneven tone over the course of treatment.

What to Expect

Treatment, timeline, & results.

Treatment

30–45 Min

The PRX solution is applied and massaged into the skin in multiple passes. There is no occlusion, no waiting period, and no neutralization required. The treatment ends with a hydrating finish mask.

Sensation

Mild Warmth

Most patients feel mild warmth or tingling during application. There is no significant discomfort and no topical anesthetic required. The experience is typically relaxing.

Downtime

None

The skin may appear slightly flushed for a few hours. There is no peeling, no visible recovery period, and no restrictions on normal activity. Mineral sunscreen is applied before you leave.

Results

Immediate + Progressive

Skin looks brighter and more luminous immediately after the first session. Collagen and elastin improvements develop progressively over three to four weeks. A series of three to five sessions spaced one to two weeks apart produces the deepest structural results.

FAQ

Common questions.

What is PRX?
PRX is a professional biorevitalization treatment that stimulates collagen and elastin production in the deep dermis without causing surface peeling or requiring downtime. It uses a patented formula of trichloroacetic acid, hydrogen peroxide, and kojic acid applied topically — the TCA reaches the dermis and stimulates fibroblasts while the hydrogen peroxide neutralizes the surface reaction, protecting the outer skin layer entirely.
Is there downtime after PRX?
No. PRX is specifically formulated to stimulate collagen in the dermis without damaging the outer epidermis — which is what causes peeling and recovery time in traditional chemical peels. Most patients return to normal activities immediately after treatment. Mild redness or warmth may linger for a few hours, but there is no visible recovery period, no peeling, and no restrictions.
How many treatments do I need?
Most patients see meaningful improvement after three to five sessions spaced one to two weeks apart. A single session can be used as a standalone glow treatment — often booked before events — but for lasting collagen remodeling results, a series is recommended. After completing a series, many patients maintain their results with one session every four to six weeks.
Can PRX be used on the body?
Yes. PRX is effective on the face, neck, décolletage, hands, abdomen, and thighs — anywhere laxity, uneven tone, or stretch marks are a concern. It is one of the few professional skin renewal treatments well-suited to body applications without significant downtime risk.
How does PRX compare to AquaGold?
PRX and AquaGold work at different depths and serve different purposes — which makes them highly complementary rather than competing. PRX stimulates collagen and elastin in the dermis through a biorevitalization mechanism. AquaGold microinfuses hyaluronic acid, vitamins, and peptides into the superficial skin for immediate hydration and luminosity. Together they address both structural skin health and surface glow simultaneously, and are often performed in the same session at Desert Sands for compounded results.
Is PRX suitable for all skin types?
Yes. Because PRX does not damage the surface layer of the skin, it is safe and effective for a wider range of skin types than traditional chemical peels — including sensitive skin and darker skin tones that may not be candidates for more aggressive resurfacing treatments. Your provider will evaluate your skin and confirm candidacy during the consultation.
