The 5-5-5 Massage Rule (Sculptra)

Massage the treated areas gently for 5 minutes, 5 times per day, for 5 days following each injection. This minimizes induration and supports even collagen formation in the treated tissue.

  • 01 Apply cloth-wrapped ice packs during the first 24 hours — 10 minutes on, 10 minutes off — to minimize swelling and bruising.
  • 02 For Sculptra: massage the injected areas 5 minutes, 5 times per day, for 5 days following each session.
  • 03 Sleep with your head elevated on two pillows for the first few days to reduce swelling.
  • 04 Avoid aspirin, NSAIDs (such as Advil), and alcohol for the first few days after treatment to minimize bruising.
  • 05 Use Tylenol for pain control if needed. Avoid hot foods and gum chewing for the first several hours post-treatment.
  • 06 No facials, massage, or strenuous exercise for 24 hours. Avoid significant sun or heat exposure until any redness has resolved.
  • 07 If bruising occurs, Arnica Montana supplements or fresh pineapple juice may help it resolve more quickly.
  • 08 Contact Desert Sands immediately for significant swelling, vision changes, excessive pain, dusky discoloration, or fever — these warrant prompt attention.
